Evin McFadden, Project Consultant, Washington, DC
Evin McFadden was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. He double majored in Sociology and Spanish at the University of Arkansas at Little rock. Evin’s early career work focused on implementing a broad range of education based program initiatives that impacted at-risk children and youth for an experiential education based non-profit organization. His passion for economic development, language and diverse cultures led him to obtain a Master’s Degree in International Development – Concentration Latin America from Prescott College in Arizona. Evin’s field experience includes implementing municipal development, health and education based projects in Honduras and El Salvador for over three years. Since returning to the United States, Evin’s work has focused on managing a broad range of projects that strengthen organizational and human capacity.
Angela Dinarte - Country Director, Nicaragua
Angela was born and raised on the island. She began working at NDI as a technical and financial assistant. She has worked on various NDI projects including being the lead project coordinator for years of the most successful Calzado Ometepe races for children and the DIOSA programs. Angela is the main organizer of Calzado Ometepe, a kids run focused on health and well being where shoes and school supplies are donated to hundreds of local kids. As the Country Director, Angela maintains all contracts and committments with DGI, INSS, the Ministry of Health of Nicaragua (MINSA), the Ministry of Government of Nicaragua (MIGOB) and the Minstiry of Exterior of Nicaragua (MINREX) to maintain NDI legal and in good relationships wtih all in Nicaraguan government authrorities. Angela is a currently working to get her bachelors in Administration and is the loving mother. She is very passionate about helping her poeple on Ometepe. Lic. Lilliam Zacarías, Staff Psychologist, Nicaragua
NDI staff clinical Psychologist and native of Nicaragua, received her degree in psychology from the UNAN-Managua in 2006. Before coming to NDI sheworked for six years as a psychologist assisting victims of violence at the Women's Action Center and with special needs children with the Los Pipitos medical Institute. After her first child was born, Lilliam, now a single mother, decided to return to her Island home to be closer to family. Here on Ometepe she has worked with Si A La Vida, a project which provides food, education and housing to young men from the streets of Managua. Here she provided the boys with general counseling and moral support while they were separated from their families. With NDI she will be working with all individuals from the community as our full-time psychologist and will act as a liaison between victims of violence and the Nicaraguan judicial system. This type of counseling is a first for the Isla de Ometepe and believe her talents and services will bring much needed support to the people of Nicaragua. Dr. Melissa Clifford, NDI Canada, Toronto
Dr. Clifford was born in Mexico City but moved to and grew up mostly in Toronto, Canada. After receiving her bachelors degree in Kinesiology from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University in the UK, she graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. It was during her clinical year at CCNM that Dr. Clifford first came to NDI as an intern and fell in love with the community of Ometepe and the work of NDI. Since then she has returned to the island on several occasions to continue to pursue her passion in global health and development. Previous to Nicaragua, her global health experiences included work in Haiti, Guatemala and Ghana. Aside from her passion in global health, Melissa was a competitive athlete in volleyball and track and field through her years at university.
