Volunteering with NDI

Volunteering has been a long established tradition within all medical professions. In its first year of operation, NDI doctors donated over 700 days of service delivering free-medical services.  NDI offers a variety of short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities for medical and non-medical volunteers in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and abroad.

Long-term opportunities

Professional Corps - Long Term Opportunities for Naturopathic Physicians: NDI offers 14-month volunteer opportunities for USA state licensed, and Canadian board eligible naturopathic physicians in various NDI clinic sites abroad. Our licensed medical volunteers work closely with other health professionals in the project country, provide direct care to patients thru daily consults and emergency care as needed, and work within communities to develop community enhancement projects and provide house calls. Overseas long-term medical volunteers take assignments of 14 months in length. Medium-term opportunities

Professional Corps- Short Term Opportunities: NDI offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for licensed health professionals that are practicing including naturopathic physicians, acupuncturists, herbalists, midwives, chiropractors, osteopaths, holistic nurses and allied health professionals. Professional corp service lasts between 1 & 12 months. We select candidates up to 1 year before date placement so if you are interested in joining our professional corps, click here.

Student Internships: NDI offers a variety of internships for students of naturopathic medicine and students global health programs and recently licensed health care professionals. Interships last between 1 and 12 months. Our interships are highly competitive. Short term opportunities

NDI Site Tour: 1-hour tours are available of the clinic on Ometepe. If you are on the island and would like to visit us, please email us to make an appointment. We cannot accomodate last minute preceptors or volunteers that have not been selected for our program.

Global Health in Natural Medicine Courses: Click here to find out more about our 10-day global service learning trips.  Our courses certified for continuing eduction and you can recieve a total of 60 CE hours thru the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Examiners (OBNE), including 3 pharmacy hours.
