Student Internships

Join NDI for a 1 - 12 month naturopathic global health internship. Interns may be medical students or undergraduate students interested in global studies, global health or grassroots social justice organizations. Your area of expertise will determine your work with us. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A DOCTOR OR STUDYING TO BE ONE TO WORK WITH NDI. Medical students are encouraged to shadow doctors.  If you are a licensed medical professional, and wish to work for a minimum of 1 month,  you can volunteer your services with full time NDI doctors in the NDI clinic thru our NDI Professional Corps program.

Interns will be involved in many aspects of NDI’s operations, such as administrative assistance, course support, research and development, writing and newsletter layout, community health project development, data entry and other initiatives. The time commitment is 40 hours weekly and is located in Nicaragua. Interns must pay a monthly donation determined by length of service (see fee schedule below). Additionally, interns are responsible for their own housing and personal expenses, health insurance, and travel expenses to and from Nicaragua.  For a full description of the internship, please read the NDI Internship Guide & the NDI Global Health Internship Job Description.
 
Prerequisites
1. NDI Global Health Course (10-day Brigade). While preference is given to applicants who have already attended a global health course or with previous international and spanish skills, exceptions may be made. If you have NOT attended a global health course and one is offered during your internship, that month the full course fee of  $1300 applies but is in lieu of your monthly intern fee.   
2. 21 years of age
3. Good physical and mental health

Progam fee schedule (including housing and 3 meals per day)
1 – 2 month interns - $800 per month donation
3-6 month interns - $600 per month donation
7-12 month interns - $500 per month donation
